Full suspension at both ends, and it still folds
The ENGWE Engine Pro 3.0 Boost has fifty millimetres of travel at the front and more at the rear, on a magnesium alloy frame that folds in half. Almost nothing folds and has real suspension; this does both.
It is road legal at 250W, and it is built to leave the tarmac rather than to look as though it might.
Suspension that is doing a job, not decorating
The fork is hydraulic with an adjustable lockout, and the rear has enough travel to keep the back wheel on the ground over roots and rubble instead of skipping off them.
Lock both out and it behaves on a road. Open them and it will take a farm track at a speed that would have you off a rigid folder.
Ninety newton metres, and where it goes
Torque is what you feel from a standing start and on a loose climb, and this has a great deal of it for a road-legal bike.
Assistance still stops at the legal limit, so this is not about top speed. It is about the bike not stalling where a weaker motor would spin its wheel and stop.
Magnesium alloy, which is why it is not heavier still
A folding hinge, full suspension and fat tyres all add weight. Magnesium alloy is how the frame keeps some of it back.
The bike is still among the heaviest we sell. The frame material is the reason it is not worse.
Hydraulic brakes, which this bike needs
Dual-piston hydraulic calipers front and rear. On a heavy bike, on a descent, with a rider and a pack on board, cable brakes fade and hydraulics do not.
One finger is enough, and they hold their bite when everything is wet and gritty.
Full in two hours
A high-output charger fills the pack in about two hours, where most bikes here take five or six.
On a day out that is the difference between one ride and two. Plug in over lunch and the afternoon is covered.
Sealed against the weather it is built for
The wiring, the display, the motor and the controller each carry their own ingress rating. A bike sold for gravel, grass and sand is going to meet water, and the electronics are specified for it.
It carries CE EN15194 certification, tested by TÜV.
Fat tyres, and what they are for
Twenty-inch wheels with wide tyres run at low pressure, which is what makes sand, wet grass and loose gravel passable rather than a fight.
They also flatten the potholes on the way there. The cost is drag on smooth tarmac, and range.
It fits taller riders, and folds for the car
The frame suits riders from roughly five and a half to six foot two, with a wide range of saddle and handlebar adjustment.
Folded it fits most car boots with the seats down, which is how this bike is meant to travel: driven to the ground you want to ride, not ridden there.

Not a commuter, whatever the hinge suggests
This folds, and it is not a commuting bike. It is heavy, it is wide, and it will not tuck under an office desk or go politely onto a rush-hour train. Treat the fold as a way to get it into a car, not onto public transport.
It is also the most expensive bike on this page, and the range is modest for the money because fat tyres and suspension cost energy. If you only ever ride paved roads, you are paying for travel you will lock out and never use.

- Do the bikes need assembly?
- Most electric bikes arrive 85 to 90 per cent pre-assembled. You will usually need to attach the handlebars, pedals, and adjust the seat. A basic tool set is often included.
- Are BikTron electric bikes legal to ride in the UK?
- Yes. All bikes sold by BikTron that meet UK EAPC rules (250W motor, max 15.5 mph assisted speed, pedal-assisted only) are fully road-legal. You do not need a licence, tax, or insurance to ride them on public roads. Riders must be at least 14 years old.
- What about the electric scooters?
- Those are different, and the law treats them differently. A privately owned e-scooter cannot legally be ridden on a public road, pavement or cycle lane in the UK, whoever sold it. We sell ours for private land use only, with the landowner's permission, and every scooter product page says so. If you want something you can ride to work, choose an electric bike.
