A hub-motor L20, at a lower price
The ENGWE L20 3.0 Boost is the L20 without the mid-drive: same folding aluminium platform, same twenty-inch wheels, a rear hub motor instead of a motor at the cranks, and several hundred pounds less.
It is road legal at 250W, so there is no licence, tax or insurance to arrange.
Full in two hours
The charger is a high-output unit, and it fills the pack in about two hours where most bikes here take five or six.
That changes how the bike is used: a top-up over lunch covers an afternoon, rather than being something you plan around overnight.
Hydraulic brakes, which the price does not suggest
Hydraulic discs rather than cables. One finger is enough, they do not fade on a long descent, and they hold their bite when the wheels are wet.
Most folding bikes near this money use cable discs, and you feel the difference on the way down a hill with a heavy bike underneath you.
Seventy-five newton metres through small wheels
Small wheels give a hub motor more mechanical advantage, which is why a twenty-inch folder pulls away harder than its rating suggests.
Assistance stops at the legal limit; past that the gearing and your legs take over.
Aluminium, and it folds
A 6061 aluminium frame keeps the weight sensible for a bike carrying a battery this size, and it will not rust when the bike lives in a damp shed or outside under a cover.
Folded it goes in a car boot or a hallway cupboard.

Where it differs from the Pro
The Pro version of this bike has a mid-drive motor and a torque sensor, which make it climb better and feel more like a bicycle. This one has a hub motor and costs considerably less.
If your route is flat and your priority is price, the difference is not worth paying for. If you live somewhere hilly, it is, and we would rather say which is which than sell you the wrong one.

It arrives largely assembled. Allow twenty minutes.

- Bed the hydraulic brakes in at walking pace before a first descent

Heavy for a folder, and a hub motor is a hub motor
Seventy-three pounds is a bike you wheel rather than carry. Folding does not make it light, and stairs at both ends of a commute will wear on you.
A rear hub motor also pushes rather than pulls: on a steep climb in a low gear it cannot use the gearing the way a mid-drive can, so it works harder and warms up sooner. On the flat you will never notice. On a hill you will.

- Do the bikes need assembly?
- Most electric bikes arrive 85 to 90 per cent pre-assembled. You will usually need to attach the handlebars, pedals, and adjust the seat. A basic tool set is often included.
- Are BikTron electric bikes legal to ride in the UK?
- Yes. All bikes sold by BikTron that meet UK EAPC rules (250W motor, max 15.5 mph assisted speed, pedal-assisted only) are fully road-legal. You do not need a licence, tax, or insurance to ride them on public roads. Riders must be at least 14 years old.
- What about the electric scooters?
- Those are different, and the law treats them differently. A privately owned e-scooter cannot legally be ridden on a public road, pavement or cycle lane in the UK, whoever sold it. We sell ours for private land use only, with the landowner's permission, and every scooter product page says so. If you want something you can ride to work, choose an electric bike.
