Eighty-seven miles, and road legal
The ENGWE E26 ST claims a longer range than ninety-four percent of everything we sell, from a 250W motor that keeps it inside UK road law. No licence, no tax, no insurance.
Long range usually means a big motor or a restricted machine. This is neither: it is a legal bike with a large battery and an efficient way of using it.
Hydraulic brakes on a legal bike
Most 250W bikes at this price use cable discs. This one is hydraulic: one finger is enough, they do not fade on a long descent, and they hold their bite when everything is wet.
On a bike built for long days that is the specification you notice on the way home rather than on the way out.
Seventy newton metres through twenty-six inch wheels
Good torque for a road-legal bike, and large wheels to put it through. A bigger wheel meets a rut at a shallower angle and carries speed across rough ground instead of losing it.
It is why this handles a gravel track without being a trail bike.
A step-through frame, in aluminium
The frame is 6061 aluminium and step-through, so getting on and off is easy in work clothes or with a loaded rack, and stopping in traffic does not involve swinging a leg over anything.

- Most electric bikes arrive 85 to 90 per cent pre-assembled. You will usually need to attach the handlebars, pedals, and adjust the seat. A basic tool set is often included.
- Are BikTron electric bikes legal to ride in the UK?
- Yes. All bikes sold by BikTron that meet UK EAPC rules (250W motor, max 15.5 mph assisted speed, pedal-assisted only) are fully road-legal. You do not need a licence, tax, or insurance to ride them on public roads. Riders must be at least 14 years old.
- What about the electric scooters?
- Those are different, and the law treats them differently. A privately owned e-scooter cannot legally be ridden on a public road, pavement or cycle lane in the UK, whoever sold it. We sell ours for private land use only, with the landowner's permission, and every scooter product page says so. If you want something you can ride to work, choose an electric bike.

I’ve been really happy with the ENGWE E26 ST so far. It’s comfortable, feels stable on rough tracks, and the battery lasts longer than I expected. The only downside is that it’s quite heavy, so lifting or carrying it isn’t easy. Other than that, it’s a great bike for both commuting and weekend rides. 👍
