A specification sheet written by an engineer
The DYU C1 is a 26 inch city bike at £1,289.99, and DYU publish the things most makers leave out: the controller cut-off voltage, the current limit, the motor speed in revolutions, and the temperature range it is rated to work in.
Road legal at 250W: no licence, no tax, no insurance, nothing to register.
Two range figures, and both are stated
Sixty five kilometres with pedal assistance, which is 40 miles, and 43 km on the throttle alone, which is 27.
Almost nobody publishes the second number. It is the one that tells you what the bike does when you are not helping it, and it is always the smaller of the two.

Rated from minus ten to forty five degrees
A stated operating temperature range, not a claim that it works in all weather.
Minus ten is a hard British frost. IP54 covers dust and splashing water from any direction, which is rain and puddles rather than a pressure washer. Knowing the limit is what lets you respect it.
The numbers behind the numbers
This is the detail an engineer writes and a marketing department deletes:
- A 15 amp current limit, plus or minus one
- A 31 volt controller under-voltage cut-off, plus or minus one
- A motor rated at 190 to 210 revolutions per minute
- A fifteen degree climbing capability, roughly one in four
A maker who publishes an under-voltage cut-off has one, and it is what stops a pack being drained past the point it recovers from.
Suspension in two places
A front fork and a shock absorbing seat post. Not a full suspension frame, but the two places a city rider actually feels a broken road.
On twenty six inch wheels with the rider upright, that is the sensible place to put it.
Fifty five pounds

Light enough to lift onto a rack or up a short flight of steps, and aluminium does not rust when the bike lives outside.
Four to six hours on charge
A modest pack at ten amp hours, filled in an evening rather than overnight. The battery is removable, so it charges on a worktop rather than beside the bike.
Top it up rather than running it flat and it will still be healthy in three years.

It arrives largely built, and at 183 cm long it is a full size bike rather than a folder.

What you are not getting
Mechanical disc brakes rather than hydraulic, no torque figure published, and a ten amp hour battery which is smaller than ninety two per cent of our range. The payload is 265 pounds, which is toward the bottom of our catalogue.
It is also not a cheap bike for what is on the sheet. We list 250W city bikes with bigger batteries and hydraulic brakes for a good deal less, and if the specification comparison is what you are shopping on, one of those is the better buy.
Who it is for
Someone who wants a straightforward full size city bike, light enough to lift, from a maker who documents what they built and states the limits rather than the promises.
On flat urban routes of ten miles or so, with a fork and a sprung post taking the road out of it, it does that job without asking anything of you. If you want the specification sheet to be the reason, ask us and we will point you at the bikes that win on figures instead.

- Most electric bikes arrive 85 to 90 per cent pre-assembled. You will usually need to attach the handlebars, pedals, and adjust the seat. A basic tool set is often included.
- Are BikTron electric bikes legal to ride in the UK?
- Yes. All bikes sold by BikTron that meet UK EAPC rules (250W motor, max 15.5 mph assisted speed, pedal-assisted only) are fully road-legal. You do not need a licence, tax, or insurance to ride them on public roads. Riders must be at least 14 years old.
- What about the electric scooters?
- Those are different, and the law treats them differently. A privately owned e-scooter cannot legally be ridden on a public road, pavement or cycle lane in the UK, whoever sold it. We sell ours for private land use only, with the landowner's permission, and every scooter product page says so. If you want something you can ride to work, choose an electric bike.
