A carbon fibre frame, a mid-drive motor, and 19 kg
The ENGWE N1 Pro has a carbon fibre frame, an Ananda mid-drive motor with 80 Nm and a torque sensor, at 19 kg and £1,569, down from £2,899.
250W and 15.5 mph: it meets the EAPC rules, so there is no licence, no tax and no registration.
Carbon fibre, and nineteen kilogrammes
Carbon is the material of racing bikes, chosen for its weight and for the way it absorbs vibration metal passes straight through.

The motor is at the pedals, not in the wheel
Almost everything in this catalogue puts the motor in the rear hub. This one has it at the centre of the bike.
The motor goes through your gears, so it multiplies as you do: on a hill it pulls far harder for the same rated power. The weight stays low and central, and the rear wheel comes off like any ordinary bike's. Ananda is a named motor maker, not an anonymous part.
Eighty newton metres and a torque sensor together
A cadence sensor reads whether you are pedalling. A torque sensor reads how hard.
On a mid-drive the two belong together: the assistance follows your leg rather than switching in as a block. It is also why ENGWE can claim 100 km from a pack of only 360 watt hours.
An hour and a half to two hours for a full charge
That is the shortest charging time in this catalogue, and it comes from the pack being small rather than the charger being large.
A bike you top up over a lunch break is a different proposition from one you plan around overnight. ENGWE adds that the time depends on how the battery has been used, which is a caveat most sheets leave off.
A solar tail light
ENGWE fits a rear light that charges itself from daylight rather than from the main battery or a coin cell.
It is a small thing and it is the kind of small thing that is always working when you need it. The headlight is separate, and the display is an LED colour unit.
Hydraulic brakes and a 700×42C tyre
160 mm hydraulic discs front and rear, on 42 mm tyres over 28-inch wheels.
Forty-two millimetres is wider than a road tyre and narrower than a mountain tyre: the width that takes a pothole edge without costing range. Shimano 7-speed transmission.
Before the first ride, and who it is for
ENGWE sizes it for riders of 5 ft 5 in to 6 ft 7 in. Payload is 265 lbs, lower than 96% of our catalogue, and the climbing limit ENGWE publishes is 10 degrees.

- Torque the carbon parts properly: carbon does not forgive overtightening
- Bed the hydraulic brakes in at walking pace
- Ease off the pedal as you change gear, as you would on any mid-drive
- Allow up to two hours for the first charge
Buy it for the frame and the mid-drive, with £1,330 off. A carbon-framed mid-drive bike at nineteen kilogrammes is normally found much further up the price list.

- Do the bikes need assembly?
- Most electric bikes arrive 85 to 90 per cent pre-assembled. You will usually need to attach the handlebars, pedals, and adjust the seat. A basic tool set is often included.
- Are BikTron electric bikes legal to ride in the UK?
- Yes. All bikes sold by BikTron that meet UK EAPC rules (250W motor, max 15.5 mph assisted speed, pedal-assisted only) are fully road-legal. You do not need a licence, tax, or insurance to ride them on public roads. Riders must be at least 14 years old.
- What about the electric scooters?
- Those are different, and the law treats them differently. A privately owned e-scooter cannot legally be ridden on a public road, pavement or cycle lane in the UK, whoever sold it. We sell ours for private land use only, with the landowner's permission, and every scooter product page says so. If you want something you can ride to work, choose an electric bike.
