The ENGWE LE20 runs a mid-drive motor with 100 Nm of torque and carries 441 lbs, at £1,169, down from £2,513.

The motor is at the pedals, not in the wheel
Almost everything in this catalogue puts the motor in the rear hub. This one has it at the centre of the bike.

One hundred newton metres from a legal motor
On a cargo bike that is the number that counts, and a hundred is a great deal of it.
Torque is what moves a loaded bike away from a standstill and up a hill without a run-up. Rated power says nothing about it, and a torque sensor reads the force you apply rather than just whether you are pedalling.
441 lbs, and ENGWE means the whole lot
Two hundred kilogrammes: rider, cargo and anything on the rack, together.
That is more than 98% of our catalogue. The tyres are 20 × 3 inch puncture-proof, the brakes are 180 mm hydraulic discs, and the standover is 47 cm so you can get on and off while it is loaded.

One 48V 19.2Ah pack gives a claimed 180 km; a two-pack version gives 350 km. Our table carries the single-battery figures throughout, including the 36.8 kg weight.
ENGWE also states the assumptions for those numbers: assist level 1, a 75 kg rider, and nothing else on the bike. Almost nobody prints that, and it is the difference between a range figure and a claim.
Two charging times, and the fast one is the interesting one
Six to eight hours on the standard charger, two to three on the fast charger.

A rear indicator light, fitted
The rear light includes a turn signal rather than leaving it as an accessory.
You signal without letting go of the bars, which matters more on a loaded cargo bike than on an ordinary one. Shimano 7-speed, colour LCD display, 6061 aluminium frame.
Before the first ride, and who it is for

- Do the bikes need assembly?
- Most electric bikes arrive 85 to 90 per cent pre-assembled. You will usually need to attach the handlebars, pedals, and adjust the seat. A basic tool set is often included.
- Are BikTron electric bikes legal to ride in the UK?
- Yes. All bikes sold by BikTron that meet UK EAPC rules (250W motor, max 15.5 mph assisted speed, pedal-assisted only) are fully road-legal. You do not need a licence, tax, or insurance to ride them on public roads. Riders must be at least 14 years old.
- What about the electric scooters?
- Those are different, and the law treats them differently. A privately owned e-scooter cannot legally be ridden on a public road, pavement or cycle lane in the UK, whoever sold it. We sell ours for private land use only, with the landowner's permission, and every scooter product page says so. If you want something you can ride to work, choose an electric bike.
