Why a cargo bike needs the big battery
A loaded cargo bike is doing more work every mile than an unloaded commuter, and the motor draws accordingly. A big pack is not a luxury here, it is what stops the range collapsing the moment you put something on the rack.
Hidoes quote 37 to 46 miles, and that is with the bike doing its job rather than empty.
The range row is missing from our table, and here is why
Our specification table below has no range figure for this model because the supplier's own summary did not carry one in a form we store, and we do not fill a blank with a guess.
The figure Hidoes publish elsewhere on the page is 37 to 46 miles from the 26 amp hour pack. We would rather tell you where the number came from than quietly place it in the table as though it came from the same place as the rest.
Turn signals and brake lights, fitted
Headlights, indicators and a brake tail light that comes on when you slow.
On a bike carrying a load, being seen turning and being seen braking is worth more than any specification line on the page. Very little under a thousand pounds has indicators at all.
Hydraulic brakes, front and rear
Hydraulic rather than cable, which on a ninety one pound bike with 150 kilograms on it is the right answer and not a nice extra.
One finger is enough, they do not fade on a long descent, and they hold their bite when everything is wet.
Twenty by four inch fat tyres
Off-road air tyres, four inches wide, on twenty inch wheels. A small wheel keeps the load low and the frame short; the width puts a large contact patch under a heavy bike.

Three hundred and thirty pounds, total
A hundred and fifty kilograms rated for rider and cargo together. Take your own weight off it and what is left is what you can carry.
That is the sum worth doing before you order, because a cargo bike's rating is the one number that decides whether it can do your job.
Eight to twelve hours on charge
Long, and unavoidable. A two amp charger filling twenty six amp hours takes the time arithmetic says it takes.
Treat it as an overnight bike. If you need it back on the road in an afternoon, this is not the right pack, and we would rather you knew before it arrived.
Iron and aluminium, and ninety one pounds
Heavier than ninety per cent of our catalogue. The frame is iron and aluminium rather than aluminium throughout, which is where the weight is and also why it takes the load.
You wheel it rather than carry it. A ground floor hallway, a shed or a garage is what it wants; stairs are out of the question.
Before the first ride
It arrives largely built, in a box about a metre and a half long.
- Fit the front wheel, handlebar and pedals
- Check the indicator and brake light switches before dark
- Bed the hydraulic brakes in at walking pace, loaded as you mean to ride it
- Set tyre pressure: soft for grip, firmer for range on tarmac
- Charge to full once, allowing the full twelve hours
Who it is not for
Anyone who needs a fast charge, anyone with stairs, and anyone who wants a quick bike. It is a 250W motor moving ninety one pounds before you load it, so hills will ask for your legs.
Buy it if you carry things regularly and want a legal bike that will do it in the dark, in the wet, with a battery big enough that you are not planning your week around the charger. At £850 with hydraulic brakes and indicators, that is a lot of cargo bike.

- Can I return my electric bike?
- Yes. You can ride the bike and still return it. Tell us within 30 days of delivery and we book the courier and collect it from your door. Contact us first and we will guide you through the process.
- Do the bikes need assembly?
- Most electric bikes arrive 85 to 90 per cent pre-assembled. You will usually need to attach the handlebars, pedals, and adjust the seat. A basic tool set is often included.
- Are BikTron electric bikes legal to ride in the UK?
- Yes. All bikes sold by BikTron that meet UK EAPC rules (250W motor, max 15.5 mph assisted speed, pedal-assisted only) are fully road-legal. You do not need a licence, tax, or insurance to ride them on public roads. Riders must be at least 14 years old.
- What about the electric scooters?
- Those are different, and the law treats them differently. A privately owned e-scooter cannot legally be ridden on a public road, pavement or cycle lane in the UK, whoever sold it. We sell ours for private land use only, with the landowner's permission, and every scooter product page says so. If you want something you can ride to work, choose an electric bike.
