Most bikes under a thousand pounds give you a front light and a rear light. This one has indicators and a brake light that comes on when you slow.
On a dark winter commute, being seen braking and being seen turning is worth more than another ten miles of range. It is the single most useful thing on the specification sheet.
Twenty five to thirty five kilometres, and we will not dress it up
Hidoes quote twenty five to thirty five kilometres, which is sixteen to twenty two miles. That is short, and it is near the bottom of our catalogue.
It is honest about what a 250W motor does pushing four inch tyres. If your round trip is under twelve miles you will never think about it. If it is twenty, look at something else on our shelves and we will point you at it.
Fat tyres, and what they are actually for
Four inches wide, run soft. They float over gravel, wet grass, sand and broken tarmac instead of dropping into it, and they take the sting out of a pothole you did not see.
That comfort is bought with rolling resistance, which is part of why the range figure is what it is. Wide tyres and long range do not come in the same bike at this price.
Three hundred and thirty pounds of payload
A hundred and fifty kilograms rated. That is a rider plus a full shopping load, or a rider plus a child seat, with room left over.
The frame is iron and aluminium rather than aluminium throughout, which is where the weight went and also why it takes that load.
What the eight stone tells you
Seventy six pounds is heavier than two thirds of our range. It means:
- You wheel it rather than carry it
- Stairs at either end of a commute will become a problem
- A ground floor hallway, a shed or a garage is what this bike wants
- It holds a line in crosswind that a light bike does not
Disc brakes front and rear
Discs at both ends, which keep working when the rims are covered in road spray. On a seventy six pound bike that is not optional equipment.
They are cable operated, so an Allen key adjusts them and pads cost a few pounds from any shop.
Five to seven hours on charge
An overnight charge. The supplied adapter takes normal mains and puts out 54.6 volts at two amps.
Plug it in when you get home rather than trying to squeeze a charge between two errands, and top it up rather than running it flat if you want the pack healthy in three years.
Before the first ride
It ships largely assembled in a box about a metre and a half long.

- Set tyre pressure: soft for grip on trails, firmer for range on tarmac
- Set the saddle to hip height
- Charge to full once before you ride
Who should not buy it
Anyone with a long commute, anyone who has to carry a bike upstairs, and anyone who wants a quick bike. It is capped at 15.5 mph because that is the law, and the motor is 250W, so a steep hill from standing will need your legs.
Buy it if you want lights, indicators, fat tyres and a legal motor for five hundred and fifty pounds, on journeys of a few miles at a time. For that, nothing else we sell is close on price.

- Most electric bikes arrive 85 to 90 per cent pre-assembled. You will usually need to attach the handlebars, pedals, and adjust the seat. A basic tool set is often included.
- Are BikTron electric bikes legal to ride in the UK?
- Yes. All bikes sold by BikTron that meet UK EAPC rules (250W motor, max 15.5 mph assisted speed, pedal-assisted only) are fully road-legal. You do not need a licence, tax, or insurance to ride them on public roads. Riders must be at least 14 years old.
- What about the electric scooters?
- Those are different, and the law treats them differently. A privately owned e-scooter cannot legally be ridden on a public road, pavement or cycle lane in the UK, whoever sold it. We sell ours for private land use only, with the landowner's permission, and every scooter product page says so. If you want something you can ride to work, choose an electric bike.
