The SAMEBIKE RS-A02 Pro puts together three things that rarely arrive at one price: four-inch tyres, suspension front and rear, and a folding aluminium frame.
It is road legal at 250W, and it is listed several hundred pounds below its original price.
Suspension at both ends, which fat-tyre folders usually skip
Most bikes of this shape rely on the tyres alone and call it suspension. This one has an adjustable fork and a shock at the rear as well.
Over roots, ruts and dropped kerbs the back wheel stays on the ground instead of skipping off, which is what keeps you in control rather than just comfortable.
Four inches of tyre changes the map
Run at low pressure, tyres this wide make sand, wet grass, loose gravel and broken tarmac ordinary rather than a fight. The contact patch is large and the bike does not dart when the surface changes.
They flatten potholes on the way there, too.
Aluminium, so it is lighter than it looks
The frame is 6061 aluminium rather than steel, which is how a bike carrying tyres this size keeps its weight down.
It still is not light. But it is lighter than the steel-framed fat bikes at the same money, and that shows every time you lift it into a car.
Seven gears, for when the motor stops
Assistance ends at the legal limit. Past it, a Shimano seven-speed drivetrain is the difference between riding and grinding.

Slow to charge, and thirsty at full power
The battery takes most of a working day to fill from empty. If you want a bike you can top up in an hour at lunchtime, this is not it: plan to charge it overnight.
The quoted range is also modest for the size of the battery, because fat tyres and suspension cost energy. The bands in the table below are the realistic version.
Where it is not the right bike
The brakes are mechanical rather than hydraulic, which on a heavy bike on a long descent means checking them more often than you would like.
And if your riding is ten flat miles of tarmac each way, everything that makes this bike good is working against you. Buy a narrow-tyred bike and go further on the same battery. Buy this one if the ground you ride on is the reason.
