What a hundred newton metres actually does
Torque is the pull, not the top speed. It is what happens when you push off at a junction with shopping on the back, or start again halfway up a hill you misjudged.
Plenty of 250W bikes give you forty. PVY back the figure with a stated climbing ability of fifteen to twenty degrees, which is between a one in four and a one in three slope.
Brakes that cut the motor
The brakes are mechanical rather than hydraulic, but they carry a power-off function: touching a lever cuts the motor.
On a bike with this much pull that matters more than the brake type. It removes the case where the motor is still driving while you are trying to stop, which is the failure that hurts.
Walk mode
Hold the button and the bike drives itself at up to 6 km/h beside you.
On an eighty four pound bike, pushing it up a ramp or through a gate is genuine work, and walk mode is the feature people discover in the second week and then use forever.
Sixty kilometres on the motor, eighty with you pedalling

High carbon steel, and eighty four pounds
Steel rather than aluminium, which is most of why it is heavier than eighty two per cent of our range.

No throttle, and PVY say so
There is no throttle fitted by default, though one can be retrofitted. Assistance is three levels through a cadence sensor.
Stating that plainly rather than leaving it off the sheet is worth something: a throttle is the single most common thing people expect and do not get.
Lights and a waterproof headlight
An IPX5 rated LED headlight and an integrated tail light, on an HD LCD display.
A rating on the headlight specifically, rather than a vague claim about the bike, is a supplier who tested the part that sits in the rain.
Before the first ride
It arrives largely built. Twenty by four inch tyres and a 40 mm suspension fork.

Who it is not for
Anyone with stairs. Eighty four pounds of steel and fat tyres is a bike you wheel into a shed, not one you carry to a flat.
Anyone who wants hydraulic brakes, too, and anyone expecting a throttle in the box.
Buy it for the torque. A hundred newton metres inside the law, with a twenty amp hour battery and a frame rated to 150 kilograms, is not something else in our range does for under nine hundred pounds.

- Do the bikes need assembly?
- Most electric bikes arrive 85 to 90 per cent pre-assembled. You will usually need to attach the handlebars, pedals, and adjust the seat. A basic tool set is often included.
- Are BikTron electric bikes legal to ride in the UK?
- Yes. All bikes sold by BikTron that meet UK EAPC rules (250W motor, max 15.5 mph assisted speed, pedal-assisted only) are fully road-legal. You do not need a licence, tax, or insurance to ride them on public roads. Riders must be at least 14 years old.
- What about the electric scooters?
- Those are different, and the law treats them differently. A privately owned e-scooter cannot legally be ridden on a public road, pavement or cycle lane in the UK, whoever sold it. We sell ours for private land use only, with the landowner's permission, and every scooter product page says so. If you want something you can ride to work, choose an electric bike.
