The Himiway D5 Zebra carries 400 lbs, runs Tektro hydraulic brakes on 180 mm rotors and fits three sensors, at £1,939.
250W and 15.5 mph: it meets the EAPC rules, so there is no licence, no tax and no registration.
A note on the speed in our table, because we corrected it
This page used to carry 20 mph and a red private-land panel.
Himiway's own sheet for this bike states a 250W brushless gear motor and no speed at all: the 20 mph came from a reading, not from the maker. Its twin, the D5 ST, is the same bike on the same market and carries 15.5 mph. A 250W pedelec is cut at 15.5 mph by construction and by law, and that is what the table says now.

Three sensors, not one
A torque sensor, a speed sensor and a brake sensor.
The torque sensor reads how hard you pedal rather than whether you are pedalling, so the assistance follows your effort. The brake sensor cuts the motor the moment you touch a lever, which on a heavy bike with a thumb throttle is the one that matters on the day it matters.
Tektro hydraulics on 180 mm rotors
Front and rear, from a maker that does nothing but brakes, on discs large enough to shed the heat.
One finger is enough, they do not fade on a long descent, and they keep their bite in the wet. On a 79 lb bike loaded to 400, that is necessary rather than optional.
A 65-degree head angle, which is a deliberate choice
That is a slack angle, from downhill mountain biking, on a fat-tyre bike.
The slacker the angle, the more stable the bike is at speed and on a descent. With a 124.9 cm wheelbase, Himiway designed the D5 for ground rather than for manoeuvring in town. The saddle drops to 53 cm so you can get both feet down when it is loaded.

Himiway names the parts throughout: TRAMA fork with 95 mm of travel and a quick release, Kenda 26 × 4.0 tyres, Shimano Altus 7-speed, a KMC EPT anti-corrosion chain, Prowheel cranks. A sheet that names the chain was written by someone who knows what they fitted.
Before the first ride, and who it is for
Himiway sizes it for riders of 160 to 195 cm, on a 6061 aluminium frame. Himiway does not publish a charging time or a torque figure, and both rows stay empty below.

- Do the bikes need assembly?
- Most electric bikes arrive 85 to 90 per cent pre-assembled. You will usually need to attach the handlebars, pedals, and adjust the seat. A basic tool set is often included.
- Are BikTron electric bikes legal to ride in the UK?
- Yes. All bikes sold by BikTron that meet UK EAPC rules (250W motor, max 15.5 mph assisted speed, pedal-assisted only) are fully road-legal. You do not need a licence, tax, or insurance to ride them on public roads. Riders must be at least 14 years old.
- What about the electric scooters?
- Those are different, and the law treats them differently. A privately owned e-scooter cannot legally be ridden on a public road, pavement or cycle lane in the UK, whoever sold it. We sell ours for private land use only, with the landowner's permission, and every scooter product page says so. If you want something you can ride to work, choose an electric bike.
