Upside down: the wide tubes at the top, the thin ones at the wheel. It puts the stiff section where the loads are and the light section where it moves.
A hundred and twenty millimetres of travel, with lockout and rebound adjustment. Almost nothing at any price in our catalogue has one, and on an eighty nine pound bike the stiffness is the point rather than the appearance.
Read the 400 pound figure carefully
Himiway state a maximum system weight of 400 lbs, not a payload of 400 lbs. The bike is 88.6 lbs, so what is left for a rider and their luggage is about 311 lbs.
Our specification table repeats their figure, so we are saying plainly here what the table cannot: it is a total, not an allowance. Three hundred and eleven pounds is still generous; it is simply not four hundred.
A bigger rotor at the front than the back
Tektro hydraulics with a 203 mm rotor at the front and 180 mm at the rear.
Most bikes fit the same disc at both ends. Braking throws weight forward, so the front does most of the work and wants the larger disc: more leverage and more surface to shed heat. Specifying them differently is a maker who thought about it rather than ordering a matched pair.

Eight gears and three sensors
A Shimano Acera eight speed with an 11 to 34 tooth freewheel, and torque, speed and brake sensors together.
The brake sensor cuts the motor the instant you touch a lever. The torque sensor scales assistance to how hard you press. Eight ratios rather than seven matters above 15.5 mph, where the motor has stopped helping and the gearing is all you have.
Sixty to eighty miles
Himiway quote a range rather than a headline: 96 to 128 km from a 48 volt twenty amp hour pack, through a 25 amp controller.

A DNM air shock at the back
A DNM A0-38RC, 190 by 45 mm, tuned with a pump rather than accepting a factory coil.
Front and rear both adjust to your weight, which is what separates suspension that works from suspension that is merely fitted. On a bike that might be carrying three hundred pounds, setting it up properly is not optional.
Before the first ride
It arrives largely assembled and at eighty nine pounds it is a two person unpack. It is also 210 cm long, so measure the space.

- Most electric bikes arrive 85 to 90 per cent pre-assembled. You will usually need to attach the handlebars, pedals, and adjust the seat. A basic tool set is often included.
- Are BikTron electric bikes legal to ride in the UK?
- Yes. All bikes sold by BikTron that meet UK EAPC rules (250W motor, max 15.5 mph assisted speed, pedal-assisted only) are fully road-legal. You do not need a licence, tax, or insurance to ride them on public roads. Riders must be at least 14 years old.
- What about the electric scooters?
- Those are different, and the law treats them differently. A privately owned e-scooter cannot legally be ridden on a public road, pavement or cycle lane in the UK, whoever sold it. We sell ours for private land use only, with the landowner's permission, and every scooter product page says so. If you want something you can ride to work, choose an electric bike.
