The Himiway D5 ST is a step-through fat bike with a 56.9 cm step over, torque, speed and brake sensors, and Tektro hydraulics, at £1,939.
Road legal at 250W: no licence, no tax, no insurance, nothing to register.
A fifty three centimetre saddle is the number that matters
The seat drops to 53 cm and the step over is 56.9 cm. Between them, this is a bike a short rider can get onto and put both feet flat down on.
Himiway size it from 154 cm, which is 5ft 1in. Very few fat bikes go that low, because the fat tyre and the battery both push the frame up.
Sixty five degrees is very slack
A commuter bike sits around seventy one degrees, this is sixty five.
The front wheel sits further out in front of you, which makes the bike calmer at speed and far less inclined to tuck under when the front tyre hits something on a loose surface. It turns more slowly in exchange, which on a fat bike is no loss at all.
Read the 400 pound figure carefully
Himiway state a maximum system weight of 400 lbs, not a payload of 400 lbs. The bike is 79 lbs, so what is left for a rider and their luggage is about 321 lbs.
Our table repeats their figure, so we are saying plainly here what the table cannot: it is a total, not an allowance. Three hundred and twenty one pounds is still generous. It is simply not four hundred.
Three sensors, and a thumb throttle
Torque, speed and brake sensors together, with a throttle as well as the assistance.

On a seventy nine pound bike that can be carrying three hundred pounds down a hill, the brakes are the part you notice. Tektro is a maker any shop stocks pads for.
A TRAMA fork with 95 mm of travel
A named fat-specific fork with a quick release axle, rather than an unbranded one.
Ninety five millimetres is real travel. On 26 by 4 inch Kenda tyres, between the fork and the air in the tyres there is very little of a rough track that reaches you.
Sixty to eighty miles
Himiway quote a range rather than a headline: 96 to 128 km from a 48 volt twenty amp hour pack. Our table carries 60 miles, the bottom of it.

It arrives largely assembled and at seventy nine pounds it is a two person unpack. It is also 200 cm long, so measure the space.

Who it is for
Himiway size it for riders between 154 cm and 195 cm, which is a very wide range, and there is no torque figure published so the table below leaves that row out.
At seventy nine pounds it needs somewhere at ground level. Buy it if you want a fat bike you can genuinely get on and off, with named brakes and a named fork, and a rating that will carry you and a load over rough ground.

- Most electric bikes arrive 85 to 90 per cent pre-assembled. You will usually need to attach the handlebars, pedals, and adjust the seat. A basic tool set is often included.
- Are BikTron electric bikes legal to ride in the UK?
- Yes. All bikes sold by BikTron that meet UK EAPC rules (250W motor, max 15.5 mph assisted speed, pedal-assisted only) are fully road-legal. You do not need a licence, tax, or insurance to ride them on public roads. Riders must be at least 14 years old.
- What about the electric scooters?
- Those are different, and the law treats them differently. A privately owned e-scooter cannot legally be ridden on a public road, pavement or cycle lane in the UK, whoever sold it. We sell ours for private land use only, with the landowner's permission, and every scooter product page says so. If you want something you can ride to work, choose an electric bike.
