The Fafrees F700M weighs 43 lbs, runs a Shimano CUES nine speed and a torque sensor, at £964.

We list the F700W alongside this one at the same price. Every figure on both sheets is identical except one: the standover.
This one is 85 cm, a conventional crossbar. The W is 63 cm, a dropped frame you step through. That is the whole difference, and it is the one that decides which you want. Nothing else changes.
A torque sensor on a forty three pound bike
The sensor measures how hard you press and scales the motor to match, rather than switching on a beat after the pedals turn.
On a bike this light the effect is the point: it feels like your own legs got stronger, not like a motor cut in. A heavy bike hides a cadence sensor. A light one does not.
Shimano CUES nine speed
CUES is Shimano's current generation, and nine ratios with an 11 to 32 tooth cassette.
The motor stops assisting at 15.5 mph, so above that the gearing is all you have. Nine closely spaced ratios is what keeps the bike pleasant to pedal above the limit, and almost everything else at this price gives you seven.
A hundred kilometres from 360 watt hours
Ten amp hours is a small pack, and the battery weighs 1.9 kg. Four hours to a full charge on a three amp charger.
Sixty two miles from that is a long claim, and the arithmetic works because the bike is nineteen and a half kilograms on 42 mm tyres. A heavy bike spends most of its battery moving itself.

A hard fork, which is deliberate
No suspension fork. Fafrees say so plainly rather than leaving you to discover it.
A cheap fork on a light road bike adds two kilograms, absorbs your pedalling and does very little on 42 mm tyres. Leaving it off is what makes the weight possible, and the tyres do the damping.

This is a tall person's bike
Fafrees size it for riders between 175 cm and 210 cm, with the saddle running from 94 to 110 cm and the handlebar fixed at 110.
Under about 5ft 9in it will not fit you properly, and the 85 cm standover is the part that will not work. The F700W drops that to 63 cm, which is the sensible answer if you are shorter.

Who it is for

Buy it for the weight and the drivetrain. Nineteen and a half kilograms with nine CUES gears and a torque sensor is a specification that usually costs a great deal more.

- Do the bikes need assembly?
- Most electric bikes arrive 85 to 90 per cent pre-assembled. You will usually need to attach the handlebars, pedals, and adjust the seat. A basic tool set is often included.
- Are BikTron electric bikes legal to ride in the UK?
- Yes. All bikes sold by BikTron that meet UK EAPC rules (250W motor, max 15.5 mph assisted speed, pedal-assisted only) are fully road-legal. You do not need a licence, tax, or insurance to ride them on public roads. Riders must be at least 14 years old.
- What about the electric scooters?
- Those are different, and the law treats them differently. A privately owned e-scooter cannot legally be ridden on a public road, pavement or cycle lane in the UK, whoever sold it. We sell ours for private land use only, with the landowner's permission, and every scooter product page says so. If you want something you can ride to work, choose an electric bike.
