This Model Is Fully Compliant With UK Road Regulations
This bike is built to comply with UK Electrically Assisted Pedal Cycle (EAPC) regulations, meaning it can be used on public roads and cycle paths without registration, tax, or a licence. Motor assistance is limited to 250W and cuts off at 15.5 mph (25 km/h).
See UK LegislationThis bike is built for riders 5'7"-6'7" (170-200 cm).

The manufacturer's figures, not ours.
This one carries 540 Wh of battery. The maker quotes 34 mi; in mixed riding with some hills, expect nearer 26 mi. A full charge costs about £0.15. Across a year that is roughly £980.00 less than making the same journeys by car, so the bike pays for itself in about 11 months. Everything here is worked out from this bike's own specification. Estimates, not promises: the assumptions are printed underneath.

Twenty one gears and fifty pounds
The Fafrees F28 MT runs a triple chainring with a seven speed block, giving twenty one ratios, on a 6061 aluminium frame weighing 50 lbs, at £824.
Road legal at 250W and certified to EN15194: no licence, no tax, no insurance, nothing to register.

A front derailleur, which almost nothing here has
Twenty four, thirty four and forty two tooth rings at the front, a seven speed block at the back.
The motor stops helping at 15.5 mph. Above that it is you and the gearing, and a 42 tooth ring is what lets you keep pedalling usefully instead of spinning out. Below it, the 24 tooth ring gives a genuinely low gear for a loaded climb.
All Shimano, so any shop can index it.

How it differs from the F26 Pro
We list the Fafrees F26 Pro at £754 with a similar motor and the same 45 newton metres.
That one is steel with a lockout fork, a rack and mudguards, at sixty three pounds. This one is aluminium with a longer fork and no rack, at fifty. You are paying seventy pounds for thirteen pounds less bike and fourteen more gears, and losing the lockout and the luggage. For trails, take this. For a commute with a bag, take that.

Fifty pounds on aluminium
Twenty two and a half kilograms, lighter than eighty two per cent of our catalogue, and aluminium does not rust when the bike lives outside.
- Light enough to lift onto a rack or carry up steps
- It rides like a bicycle when the battery is empty
- Rated to carry 150 kilograms even so
- 27.5 by 2.25 inch tyres on 36 hole double wall rims

A hundred millimetres of fork
Real travel rather than a token spring, though without a lockout on this model. Fafrees state that plainly rather than leaving it off the sheet.
On a trail bike, open is where you want it anyway. On a long road stretch you will feel the fork absorbing some of your effort, and that is the honest trade for a hundred millimetres.

Fifty five to sixty five kilometres
Thirty four to forty miles from a 540 watt hour pack that weighs 3 kg and comes off the frame.
The panel below turns the capacity into energy per mile and gives you the bands. On trails with the assistance working, expect the lower end; on a towpath, the upper.

Certified, and rated for water
EN15194, CE and E-Mark, with IPX4 on the bike and an IP54 display that carries a USB port so a phone charges off the main battery.
IPX4 is splashing water from any direction: rain and puddles, not a jet wash.

Nine hours on charge
A two amp charger on fifteen amp hours, so an overnight job. The pack is removable and charges indoors.

Before the first ride
It arrives with a charger, a tool kit and a manual.
- Fit the front wheel, handlebar and pedals
- Set the saddle between 90 cm and 103 cm
- Check both the front and rear derailleurs are indexed before the first hill
- Check both disc brakes and tyre pressure
- Charge to full once before the first long ride

Who it is for
Fafrees size it for riders between 170 cm and 200 cm, so this is a tall person's bike and the 78 cm standover says so too.
The brakes are mechanical rather than hydraulic and there is no rack or mudguards, which is where the money went instead.
Buy it if you want to pedal, your routes have real climbs, and you would rather have twenty one ratios and a light frame than a bigger battery and a rack.

Good value and comfy on the 27.5" tyres, but charging takes forever, closer to 8 hours than I expected. The gears also needed indexing before they'd shift cleanly. Happy enough overall for the money.
