The manufacturer's figures, not ours.

This one carries 720 Wh of battery. The maker quotes 35 mi; in mixed riding with some hills, expect nearer 26 mi. A full charge costs about £0.20. Across a year that is roughly £977.00 less than making the same journeys by car, so the bike pays for itself in about 29 months. Everything here is worked out from this bike's own specification. Estimates, not promises: the assumptions are printed underneath.

A mid-drive motor, and parts with names on them

The Himiway A7 Pro uses an ANANDA M100 mid-drive motor rather than a hub, with Shimano Alivio nine speed, SR Suntour suspension and Schwalbe tyres, at £2,339.

Road legal at 250W: no licence, no tax, no insurance, nothing to register.

Mid-drive is a different machine, not a better version of the same one

Almost every electric bike we sell puts the motor in the rear wheel hub. This one puts it at the pedals, driving the chain.

  • The motor uses your gears, so it has low ones for a climb
  • Weight sits low and central, not out at the back wheel
  • The rear wheel is a normal wheel, so a puncture is a normal repair
  • Assistance builds with your cadence rather than arriving as thrust

Six other bikes in our UK range use one. Everything else is a hub.

Named components, end to end

This is a parts list rather than a description, and every line has a manufacturer on it:

SR Suntour X1-Boost fork with 120 mm of travel. A DNM AO-06 air shock. Shimano MT200 hydraulic brakes on 180 mm rotors at both ends. Shimano Alivio nine speed with an 11 to 34 tooth cassette. LG battery cells. Schwalbe Super Moto-X tyres. A KMC chain, stainless spokes, a Prowheel narrow-wide chainring.

Nothing on that list is a house brand, and that is what two thousand three hundred pounds is paying for.

Three sensors, not one

A torque sensor, a speed sensor and a brake sensor.

The torque sensor scales the motor to how hard you press. The brake sensor cuts the motor the moment you touch a lever. On a mid-drive that last one matters more than on a hub bike, because the motor is pulling the chain and you want it to stop pulling before the brakes have to fight it.

Schwalbe Super Moto-X tyres

Twenty seven point five by 2.4 inches from a German maker, on a 36 spoke double wall rim with stainless spokes.

Wide enough to soak up a broken road, narrow enough to roll properly, and from a brand whose casings are what people fit when they replace the cheap ones. Buying a bike that already has them saves a hundred pounds of upgrade.

Thirty five to sixty miles

Himiway publish a range rather than a headline: 56 to 96 km from a 48 volt fifteen amp hour LG pack.

Our table carries 35 miles, the bottom of it, which is the conservative end. A mid-drive using its gears properly will sit nearer the top than a hub bike does.

The panel below turns the capacity into energy per mile so you can see both ends of it.

A suspension seatpost with a hundred millimetres of travel

The post itself moves, on top of the fork and the rear shock. A hundred millimetres is a great deal.

Between the three of them there is very little of a British road surface that reaches you, which on a commuter is what you actually feel every day.

Read the 300 pound figure carefully

Himiway state a maximum system weight of 300 lbs, not a payload of 300 lbs. The bike is 77 lbs, so what is left for a rider and their luggage is about 223 lbs.

Our specification table repeats their figure, so we are saying plainly here what the table cannot: this is a total, not an allowance. It is the single most misread number on any bike sheet and we would rather you knew before you ordered.

Who it fits

Himiway size it for riders between 165 cm and 195 cm, which is 5ft 5in to 6ft 5in, with a 70 degree head angle and a 121.9 cm wheelbase.

A 70 degree head angle is on the quicker side for a commuter, which suits a bike with a mid-drive and proper gears rather than one meant to plod.

Before the first ride

It arrives largely assembled, and this one is worth taking time over.

  • Fit the front wheel, handlebar and pedals
  • Set the fork and the rear shock for your weight
  • Bed the Shimano brakes in at walking pace
  • Check the chain tension and the gear indexing before the first hill
  • Charge to full on the 2 amp charger before a long ride

Who should not buy it

Anyone who wants the cheapest way onto an electric bike, and anyone near the 300 pound system limit. At seventy seven pounds it is also not a bike to carry upstairs.

A mid-drive puts its wear on the chain and cassette rather than in a sealed hub, so it asks for the maintenance a good bicycle asks for. In exchange it climbs properly, it handles properly, and every part on it can be replaced from a shop shelf.

Buy it if you want a real bicycle with a motor in the right place rather than a motor with a bicycle attached.

Yes. All bikes sold by BikTron that meet UK EAPC rules (250W motor, max 15.5 mph assisted speed, pedal-assisted only) are fully road-legal. You do not need a licence, tax, or insurance to ride them on public roads. Riders must be at least 14 years old.
What about the electric scooters?
Those are different, and the law treats them differently. A privately owned e-scooter cannot legally be ridden on a public road, pavement or cycle lane in the UK, whoever sold it. We sell ours for private land use only, with the landowner's permission, and every scooter product page says so. If you want something you can ride to work, choose an electric bike.
