Where you can and cannot ride it
The rules cap an electrically assisted pedal cycle at 250W continuous. This motor is rated at 500W, so it falls outside that and cannot be ridden on a road or a cycle path without registration, tax, insurance and a licence.
It is sold for use on your own property, or on land where the owner has given you permission. If you need something for a commute, look at the 250W bikes we list and we will point you at the right one.
Eighty newton metres, and a gradient figure to go with it
Torque is what pulls you away from a standstill and up a slope. Eighty newton metres is the top of our range under six hundred pounds, and unusually VARUN also publish what it means: a gradient capability of seventeen to thirty eight per cent.
Thirty eight per cent is a one in two point six slope. Most manufacturers will not put a number on this at all, and a number is worth more than an adjective.
Regenerative braking, which almost nothing here has
The brakes recover energy back into the battery, and VARUN claim about five per cent restored.
Five per cent is not going to change your day. What it does change is brake wear on a long descent, because the motor is taking some of the work the pads would otherwise do.
The battery is small, and that is the trade
Seven point eight amp hours at 48 volts. Only two per cent of our catalogue carries less.
VARUN quote 55 to 70 km on the motor alone and 80 to 128 km with pedalling, both measured with a 65 kg rider, which is a heavier caveat than it sounds. A larger rider will see less.
The panel below turns the capacity into energy per mile and gives the honest bands. Treat this as a bike for short, powerful journeys rather than long ones.

Read the two weight limits before you order
The rider weight limit is a hundred kilograms and the total payload is 220 pounds, which is lower than ninety nine per cent of our catalogue.
That is the real constraint on this bike, not the battery. If you are over sixteen stone, or you are near it and you carry anything, this is not the right frame and we would rather say so now than after it arrives.
Who it fits
VARUN size it for riders between 150 cm and 185 cm, which is 4ft 11in to 6ft 1in. Twenty inch wheels on a 1.96 inch tyre, so a narrow tyre rather than a fat one.
The frame is aluminium and the whole bike is sixty four pounds.
Before the first ride
Four to six hours on the fast charger, and it arrives largely built.

Who should not buy it
Anyone who needs to ride on a public road, anyone over a hundred kilograms, and anyone who wants long distance. Those are three real limits and none of them is negotiable.
Buy it if you have land, you are inside the weight and height range, and you want the strongest torque figure we sell for under six hundred pounds. On a steep private track, nothing else in this price bracket will pull like it.

- Do the bikes need assembly?
- Most electric bikes arrive 85 to 90 per cent pre-assembled. You will usually need to attach the handlebars, pedals, and adjust the seat. A basic tool set is often included.
- Are BikTron electric bikes legal to ride in the UK?
- Yes. All bikes sold by BikTron that meet UK EAPC rules (250W motor, max 15.5 mph assisted speed, pedal-assisted only) are fully road-legal. You do not need a licence, tax, or insurance to ride them on public roads. Riders must be at least 14 years old.
- What about the electric scooters?
- Those are different, and the law treats them differently. A privately owned e-scooter cannot legally be ridden on a public road, pavement or cycle lane in the UK, whoever sold it. We sell ours for private land use only, with the landowner's permission, and every scooter product page says so. If you want something you can ride to work, choose an electric bike.
