The Ridstar Q20 is one of the most powerful bikes we sell: 1500W, 33 mph, a 48 volt twenty amp hour pack, at £819.
It is far outside the UK road rules, so we sell it for private use on private land. Please read the panel above before you order.
Where you can and cannot ride it
The rules cap an electrically assisted pedal cycle at 250W continuous and 15.5 mph of assistance. This is six times the power and more than twice the speed.
It belongs on your own property, or on land where the owner has given you permission. On a road or a cycle path it would need registration, tax, insurance and a licence, and we would rather say that on the first screen than in the small print.
Where the power actually goes
Fifteen hundred watts is higher than ninety three per cent of our catalogue. On loose ground that is not about top speed:
- Climbing a wet grass bank from a standstill
- Pulling through deep sand without bogging down
- Hauling a rider and a load up a steep track
- Getting out of a rut instead of walking it out
A 250W bike will not do any of those, whatever its range figure says.
Twenty amp hours, and two honest range figures
A 48 volt twenty amp hour pack, larger than nearly three quarters of our range. Ridstar quote 50 miles on the motor alone and 75 miles if you pedal.
Both figures are measured at sensible speeds. Ridden at 33 mph, a big motor empties a big battery quickly, and no manufacturer prints that number. The panel below gives the arithmetic so you can see it for yourself.
Dual hydraulic brakes, which is not optional here
Hydraulic discs at both ends. At 33 mph on a fat tyre bike, cable brakes would be the weakest part of the machine by a wide margin.
Bed them in properly before you use the power in earnest, and check them before every ride the way you would on a motorcycle.
Fat tyres and dual suspension
Twenty by four inch tyres with suspension front and rear. Ridstar list snow, sand, mountain and rough road, and that is the ground this bike is built for.
Four inch tyres run soft float over surfaces a normal tyre sinks into, and the suspension is what keeps the wheels on the ground when the surface is not flat.
Three hundred and thirty pounds carried, and a Shimano seven speed
A 330 pound payload and a Shimano seven speed transmission, which is a standard any shop services.
Four to six hours to a full charge from empty.
What Ridstar did not publish
There is no weight and no frame material for this model, so the table below leaves both rows out rather than filling them.
A 1500W motor and a twenty amp hour battery on twenty inch fat tyres will not be light, and we would rather tell you that we do not know the figure than print one we invented. Ask us before you order and we will chase the supplier for it.
Who should not buy it
Anyone who needs to ride on a public road. Anyone buying a first electric bike. Anyone who wants something to leave outside a shop.
Buy it if you have land and you want genuine capability on it: deep sand, wet grass, steep tracks, in weather. At £819 with hydraulic brakes and twenty amp hours, that capability is not available cheaper anywhere in our range.

- Can I return my electric bike?
- Yes. You can ride the bike and still return it. Tell us within 30 days of delivery and we book the courier and collect it from your door. Contact us first and we will guide you through the process.
- Do the bikes need assembly?
- Most electric bikes arrive 85 to 90 per cent pre-assembled. You will usually need to attach the handlebars, pedals, and adjust the seat. A basic tool set is often included.
- Are BikTron electric bikes legal to ride in the UK?
- Yes. All bikes sold by BikTron that meet UK EAPC rules (250W motor, max 15.5 mph assisted speed, pedal-assisted only) are fully road-legal. You do not need a licence, tax, or insurance to ride them on public roads. Riders must be at least 14 years old.
- What about the electric scooters?
- Those are different, and the law treats them differently. A privately owned e-scooter cannot legally be ridden on a public road, pavement or cycle lane in the UK, whoever sold it. We sell ours for private land use only, with the landowner's permission, and every scooter product page says so. If you want something you can ride to work, choose an electric bike.
