Where you can and cannot ride it
An electrically assisted pedal cycle is capped at 250W continuous and 15.5 mph of assistance. This is four times the power.
It belongs on your own property, or on land where the owner has given you permission. On a road or a cycle path it would need registration, tax, insurance and a licence.
How it sits against the Q20 and the Q20 Pro
We list three Ridstar Q20s. The Lite is 1000W with fifteen amp hours at £729. The standard Q20 is 1500W with twenty at £819. The Pro is two motors and forty amp hours at £1,219.
The Lite is the one to buy if you want the capability and not the extremes, and the three hundred pounds between it and the Pro is real money for capability you may never use.
Eighty five newton metres, and what it buys on loose ground
Torque is the pull, not the top speed.

- Getting out of a rut rather than walking it out
A 250W bike will do none of those, whatever its range figure says.
Thirty miles on the motor, fifty with you pedalling
Ridstar publish both, and the difference between them is the honest picture of any electric machine.
Thirty miles is shorter than eighty six per cent of our catalogue. A 1000W motor empties a fifteen amp hour pack quickly, and that is the trade you are making for the power.

Twenty by four inch fat tyres with suspension
Four inches wide, run soft, with suspension to keep the wheels on the ground when the surface is not flat.
Ridstar list sand, gravel, snow and rough road, and that is the ground this machine is built for. On tarmac the same tyres are drag, which is the other half of why the range figure is what it is.
Four to six hours on charge
A removable fifteen amp hour pack that charges indoors rather than beside the machine.
Top it up rather than running it flat if you want the pack healthy past its second winter.
Before the first ride
It arrives largely assembled, with a Shimano seven speed transmission.

The brakes are the compromise, and two rows are blank
Mechanical disc brakes rather than hydraulic, on a machine with a thousand watts. They work and any shop can service them for the price of a set of pads, but at 25 mph hydraulics would be the first upgrade worth making.
Ridstar also publish no weight and no frame material, so the table below leaves both rows out rather than inventing them. Ask us and we will chase the supplier.
Who should not buy it
Anyone who needs a public road. Anyone buying a first electric machine. Anyone whose rides are longer than thirty miles without a socket.
Buy it if you have land, you want real capability on it, and seven hundred and twenty nine pounds is the budget. For that money, a thousand watts with eighty five newton metres and a 330 pound rating is a great deal of machine.

- Do the bikes need assembly?
- Most electric bikes arrive 85 to 90 per cent pre-assembled. You will usually need to attach the handlebars, pedals, and adjust the seat. A basic tool set is often included.
- Are BikTron electric bikes legal to ride in the UK?
- Yes. All bikes sold by BikTron that meet UK EAPC rules (250W motor, max 15.5 mph assisted speed, pedal-assisted only) are fully road-legal. You do not need a licence, tax, or insurance to ride them on public roads. Riders must be at least 14 years old.
- What about the electric scooters?
- Those are different, and the law treats them differently. A privately owned e-scooter cannot legally be ridden on a public road, pavement or cycle lane in the UK, whoever sold it. We sell ours for private land use only, with the landowner's permission, and every scooter product page says so. If you want something you can ride to work, choose an electric bike.
