A mid-drive motor and a Bafang controller, for eleven hundred and forty nine pounds
The Onesport OT07 puts the motor at the pedals rather than in the wheel, with a Bafang controller and a stated 30 degree climbing angle, at £1,149.
Road legal at 250W: no licence, no tax, no insurance, nothing to register.
Mid-drive is a different machine, not a better version of the same one
Almost every electric bike we sell puts the motor in the rear hub. This one drives the chain.
- The motor uses your gears, so it has low ones for a climb
- Weight sits low and central rather than out at the back wheel
- The rear wheel is an ordinary wheel, so a puncture is an ordinary repair
- Assistance builds with your cadence instead of arriving as thrust

Thirty degrees of climb, and a Bafang controller
A stated maximum climbing angle of thirty degrees, which is steeper than most makers will put in writing at all.
The controller is Bafang, which is the name behind a large share of the electric bike motors sold in Europe. Naming the controller rather than describing it as intelligent is a supplier who bought a known part.
Seventy to ninety kilometres
Forty three to fifty six miles from a 36 volt fourteen amp hour pack, in power-assisted mode. Five to six hours to a full charge.
A mid-drive using its gears properly sits nearer the top of a range like that than a hub bike does, because it is always working at a speed that suits it.

Two torque figures, and we are telling you both
Our specification table carries 65 newton metres. Onesport's own sheet says 80 in one place.
We have kept the lower figure in the table because it is the conservative one, and we would rather under-promise there than pick the flattering number. Either way it is strong for a 250W motor, and on a mid-drive it is multiplied again by whichever gear you are in.
Brake handles that cut the power
Hydraulic discs front and rear with power-off levers: touching either one stops the motor driving.
On a mid-drive that matters more than on a hub bike, because the motor is pulling the chain and you want it to stop pulling before the brakes have to argue with it.
Seven hundred by forty five, and fifty three pounds
A 700c wheel with a 45 mm tyre with reflective strips, on 13 gauge spokes and a double layer rim, at twenty four kilograms.
Lighter than seventy eight per cent of our catalogue, which for a bike with a mid-drive and a fourteen amp hour battery is respectable. Aluminium, so it will not rust outside.
A detachable rear rack, and mudguards
The rack comes off when you do not want it, which is unusual: most are welded on or bolted through the frame.
Front and rear mudguards and lights are fitted, and the payload is 150 kilograms, higher than fifty eight per cent of our catalogue.
Rated from minus ten to forty degrees
A stated operating temperature range, with IPX4 for water, which is rain and puddles rather than a jet wash.
Onesport also say plainly that it is not recommended in harsh conditions, which is a manufacturer telling you where the limit is instead of implying there is not one.
Before the first ride
It arrives largely built, and the handlebar height is fixed rather than adjustable, so check the saddle range against your leg first.
- Fit the front wheel, handlebar and pedals
- Set the saddle between 910 and 1020 mm from the ground
- Check the chain tension and the gear indexing before the first hill
- Bed the hydraulic brakes in and check the power-off levers
- Charge to full before the first long ride
Who it is for
A mid-drive puts its wear on the chain and cassette rather than inside a sealed hub, so it asks for the maintenance a good bicycle asks for. In exchange it climbs properly and every part can be replaced from a shop shelf.
Buy it if you want the motor in the right place and a bike that rides like a bicycle, and you would rather have that than a bigger battery on a heavier frame.

- Do the bikes need assembly?
- Most electric bikes arrive 85 to 90 per cent pre-assembled. You will usually need to attach the handlebars, pedals, and adjust the seat. A basic tool set is often included.
- Are BikTron electric bikes legal to ride in the UK?
- Yes. All bikes sold by BikTron that meet UK EAPC rules (250W motor, max 15.5 mph assisted speed, pedal-assisted only) are fully road-legal. You do not need a licence, tax, or insurance to ride them on public roads. Riders must be at least 14 years old.
- What about the electric scooters?
- Those are different, and the law treats them differently. A privately owned e-scooter cannot legally be ridden on a public road, pavement or cycle lane in the UK, whoever sold it. We sell ours for private land use only, with the landowner's permission, and every scooter product page says so. If you want something you can ride to work, choose an electric bike.
