Full suspension, ninety two newton metres, and a 397 pound payload
The ChamRider DH420 is a full suspension mountain bike with 92 Nm and a payload of 397 lbs, higher than ninety one per cent of our catalogue, at £1,439.
At 750W and 31 mph it sits outside the UK road rules, so we sell it for private use on private land. Please read the panel above before you order.
Where you can and cannot ride it
The limit for an electrically assisted pedal cycle is 250W continuous and 15.5 mph of assistance. This is three times the power and twice the speed.
It is sold for your own property, or on land where the owner has given you permission. On a road or a cycle path it would need registration, tax, insurance and a licence.
A soft tail frame with a DNM shock
The frame is a soft tail: the rear triangle flexes rather than pivoting on bearings, with a DNM AO-38RC shock doing the damping.
Fewer moving parts than a linkage frame, nothing to wear out, and no pivot bearings to seize after a winter of mud. The fork has adjustable damping and 80 mm of travel.
A hundred and eighty kilograms carried
Three hundred and ninety seven pounds, on 27.5 by 2.8 inch Chaoyang tyres and nine gears.
- A heavier rider with margin rather than at the limit
- Rider plus a genuinely loaded rack
- Uncommon on a full suspension frame, where the shock usually sets the ceiling

Brakes that cut the power
A hydraulic brake system with a power-off function: the motor stops the instant you touch a lever.
At 50 km/h on loose ground that is not a convenience. It removes the case where the motor is still pulling while the brakes are trying to stop it.
Nine gears, and a fast charger
Nine speed rather than the usual seven, with a 32 tooth largest sprocket, and a 48 volt four amp charger rather than the usual two or three.
Four amps fills a twenty amp hour pack in about five hours instead of eight. On a bike you will want to use twice in a day, that is the difference.
Fifty to eighty kilometres on the motor, eighty to a hundred and twenty pedalling
ChamRider publish both ranges, which is more honest than one headline number.
Our table carries 50 miles. The controller is a 48 volt 17 amp unit, hidden inside the frame rather than strapped to it, and the wiring harness is specified as waterproof.

Details that suggest someone rode it
A headlight with a horn built in. An adjustable aluminium kickstand. A left thumb lever rather than a twist grip. Aluminium swallow bars.
None of those change a specification comparison, and all of them are things you notice in the first week.
Before the first ride
It arrives largely assembled, in a box about a metre and a half long.
- Fit the front wheel, handlebar and pedals
- Set the fork damping and the shock for your weight
- Bed the hydraulic brakes in and check the power-off function
- Set the saddle between 50 cm and 85 cm
- Charge to full on the 4 amp charger before the first long ride
ChamRider give two weights, and we will not pick one
Their sheet says 26 kg in one place and about 35 kg in another. Our table carries 57 lbs, which is the 26 kg figure.
Twenty six kilograms for a full suspension bike with a twenty amp hour battery would be remarkable; thirty five would be ordinary. We have repeated the lower figure because it is the one stated as a net weight, and we are telling you here that the page disagrees with itself rather than letting you find out on the doorstep. Who should not buy it
Anyone who needs a public road. That is the whole exclusion and it is not small.
Buy it if you have land and want a full suspension bike with real gearing, a fast charger, brakes that cut the motor and a frame that will carry a hundred and eighty kilograms over rough ground.

- Do the bikes need assembly?
- Most electric bikes arrive 85 to 90 per cent pre-assembled. You will usually need to attach the handlebars, pedals, and adjust the seat. A basic tool set is often included.
- Are BikTron electric bikes legal to ride in the UK?
- Yes. All bikes sold by BikTron that meet UK EAPC rules (250W motor, max 15.5 mph assisted speed, pedal-assisted only) are fully road-legal. You do not need a licence, tax, or insurance to ride them on public roads. Riders must be at least 14 years old.
- What about the electric scooters?
- Those are different, and the law treats them differently. A privately owned e-scooter cannot legally be ridden on a public road, pavement or cycle lane in the UK, whoever sold it. We sell ours for private land use only, with the landowner's permission, and every scooter product page says so. If you want something you can ride to work, choose an electric bike.
