Not a road, not a pavement, not a cycle path. That is the fact that decides this purchase.
Seventy miles behind a very large motor
The claimed range is longer than eighty-three percent of our catalogue, which is unusual at this power: high-output machines are normally the thirstiest things on a shelf.
A twenty amp-hour pack is why. The panel below turns it into energy and into what a charge costs at the socket.
Hydraulic brakes, which it needs
Hydraulic discs front and rear. With this much motor and a heavy machine underneath you, cable brakes would fade on the first long descent and lose their bite as soon as the ground was wet.
One finger is enough, and they keep working when the pads are hot.
Fat tyres on twenty-inch wheels
Wide tyres at low pressure make sand, mud, wet grass and loose gravel ordinary rather than a fight, and small wheels give the motor more leverage to put that power down.
They also keep the standover height low, which matters on a machine you are getting on and off in a field.
It carries a rider and a load
The rated payload leaves real headroom above an adult with a pack, which is what you want on a machine used for working ground rather than commuting.

What to do before the first ride
It arrives largely assembled and it is not light: get a second pair of hands for the unboxing.

YVY list the frame as high-carbon steel or aluminium alloy depending on the build, and did not state a weight or a charging time. We print what we can stand behind and leave the rest out of the table below rather than filling it with guesses.

Heavy, and heavier when it is flat
A machine carrying this motor and a pack this size is not light, and the power hides the weight only while the battery has something in it.
Plan sessions around the charge rather than finding the bottom of it, because pedalling this home unassisted is not an afternoon anyone repeats.
You cannot ride this on the road
A motor six times the legal limit is not an electrically assisted pedal cycle in the UK. It cannot be ridden on a public road, a pavement or a cycle path.
If you have the ground, this is a great deal of power with a battery large enough to use it. If you do not, none of that helps, and our 250W range is the right shelf.

- Do the bikes need assembly?
- Most electric bikes arrive 85 to 90 per cent pre-assembled. You will usually need to attach the handlebars, pedals, and adjust the seat. A basic tool set is often included.
- Are BikTron electric bikes legal to ride in the UK?
- Yes. All bikes sold by BikTron that meet UK EAPC rules (250W motor, max 15.5 mph assisted speed, pedal-assisted only) are fully road-legal. You do not need a licence, tax, or insurance to ride them on public roads. Riders must be at least 14 years old.
- What about the electric scooters?
- Those are different, and the law treats them differently. A privately owned e-scooter cannot legally be ridden on a public road, pavement or cycle lane in the UK, whoever sold it. We sell ours for private land use only, with the landowner's permission, and every scooter product page says so. If you want something you can ride to work, choose an electric bike.
