An automatic three-speed gearbox on a folding frame
The ADO AIR 20 Ultra runs an automatic three-speed hub with a torque sensor and an adjustable fork, at £1,710.
250W and 15.5 mph: it meets the EAPC rules, so there is no licence, no tax and no registration.
Three automatic gears, not two
ADO builds the Air 20 in three transmissions, and the Ultra gets the widest.

There is no shifter and no cable on any of them: the hub changes ratio on its own as the speed changes. The third gear is what the extra money buys, and on a hilly route it is the one that matters.
ADO publishes marked power and peak power, and they are the same
Two hundred and fifty watts marked, two hundred and fifty watts peak, with 40 N·m of torque.
Almost every other sheet in this catalogue quotes a peak larger than the rating, and some quote only the peak. Publishing both as one number is the clearest statement of compliance a maker can make, and ADO backs it with an SGS CE certificate. There is no throttle, which ADO states plainly.
A torque sensor, which the gearbox needs
A cadence sensor reads whether you are pedalling. A torque sensor reads how hard.
On a bike that changes gear by itself, that distinction does real work: the hub and the motor are both responding to your effort rather than to a switch. Three assist levels over the top of it.
Sixty-two miles from a 9.6Ah pack
ADO claims up to 100 km, and our table carries 62 miles.
That is a small battery: smaller than 96% of what we sell. The figure is possible because the bike is 21 kg, the tyres are 1.95 inches and the torque sensor only gives what you ask for. The panel below turns the capacity into energy per mile so you can see the arithmetic.
An adjustable fork and hydraulic brakes
An adjustable suspension fork rather than the rigid one on the base Air 20, with hydraulic discs at both ends.
Adjustable means set to your weight, not to an average rider's. Double-walled aluminium wheels, an IPS colour display, a working range of -10 to 50 °C.
Before the first ride, and who it is for
ADO sizes it for riders of 150 to 200 cm. Payload is 265 lbs, and the bike weighs 49 lbs.

- Do the bikes need assembly?
- Most electric bikes arrive 85 to 90 per cent pre-assembled. You will usually need to attach the handlebars, pedals, and adjust the seat. A basic tool set is often included.
- Are BikTron electric bikes legal to ride in the UK?
- Yes. All bikes sold by BikTron that meet UK EAPC rules (250W motor, max 15.5 mph assisted speed, pedal-assisted only) are fully road-legal. You do not need a licence, tax, or insurance to ride them on public roads. Riders must be at least 14 years old.
- What about the electric scooters?
- Those are different, and the law treats them differently. A privately owned e-scooter cannot legally be ridden on a public road, pavement or cycle lane in the UK, whoever sold it. We sell ours for private land use only, with the landowner's permission, and every scooter product page says so. If you want something you can ride to work, choose an electric bike.
