Where you may ride it, and where you may not
In the UK, privately owned electric scooters may not be used on public roads, pavements or cycle paths. Only rental scooters in government trial areas may, and this is not one.
That restriction is on the vehicle type, not on the specification, so it applies even though all three of this scooter's speed modes stay within the 15.5 mph an electric bicycle is allowed. It is sold for your own land, or land whose owner has given you permission.
What the PRO adds over the U1
KOOLUX publishes both sheets, and three things change.
- A second motor: 0.5 kW × 2 rather than one
- A bigger battery: 20.8Ah rather than 15.6
- A steeper climb: 25 degrees rather than 19
- And eleven pounds more weight, at 84 lbs
The range claim is the same on both, because the second motor spends what the bigger battery adds. If your ground is flat, the U1 does the same job for £130 less.
Two motors, and what they are for here
Not speed: all three modes still top out at 25 km/h.
The second motor buys gradient and traction. Twenty-five degrees on ten-inch wheels is what two driven wheels make possible, and it is the only reason to choose this over the standard U1.
KOOLUX publishes what the BMS actually protects against
Temperature, short circuit, under-voltage, over-voltage and overcurrent, listed one by one.
Almost every sheet in this catalogue says "BMS" and stops. Naming the protections is the difference between a component and a claim. The charger is a 3A unit, up from 2A on the standard U1, so the larger pack still takes seven to eight hours.
KOOLUX is honest about the terrain
The sheet states plainly: flat cement or asphalt roads.
Ten-inch vacuum tyres, disc brakes at both ends and an IPX4 rating, which covers splashing water rather than a jet wash. Thirty-seven miles claimed, tested with a 70 kg load on dual-motor drive.
Before the first ride, and who it is for
It folds to 125 × 22.5 × 46 cm and weighs 84 lbs, so it is a two-person lift. Payload is 265 lbs, minimum age 16. No frame material or torque figure is published and both rows stay empty below.
- Check every stem clamp and the folding latch, then check them again after the first hour
- Bed both disc brakes in at walking pace and learn your stopping distance
- Stay in mode 1 until the machine is familiar

Buy it if your ground is hard, flat in places and steep in others. The second motor is for the steep parts, and that is the whole difference.

- Yes. You can ride the bike and still return it. Tell us within 30 days of delivery and we book the courier and collect it from your door. Contact us first and we will guide you through the process.
- Do the bikes need assembly?
- Most electric bikes arrive 85 to 90 per cent pre-assembled. You will usually need to attach the handlebars, pedals, and adjust the seat. A basic tool set is often included.
- Are BikTron electric bikes legal to ride in the UK?
- Yes. All bikes sold by BikTron that meet UK EAPC rules (250W motor, max 15.5 mph assisted speed, pedal-assisted only) are fully road-legal. You do not need a licence, tax, or insurance to ride them on public roads. Riders must be at least 14 years old.
- What about the electric scooters?
- Those are different, and the law treats them differently. A privately owned e-scooter cannot legally be ridden on a public road, pavement or cycle lane in the UK, whoever sold it. We sell ours for private land use only, with the landowner's permission, and every scooter product page says so. If you want something you can ride to work, choose an electric bike.
