Samebike electric bikes offer a lot of value for the price. But no e-bike lasts forever without the odd replacement part or a warranty claim. This guide explains what you can expect as a UK owner.

We sell Samebike at Biktron, so we see the same questions again and again. You want to know what is covered, how to claim, where to get spares and what the law says. Here is the honest answer.

What the Samebike warranty covers in the UK

Samebike provides a standard manufacturer warranty on new electric bikes sold in the UK. The frame is usually covered for longer than electrical parts. The motor, battery and controller have their own terms.

The exact period can vary by model and retailer. Always check the paperwork that came with your bike. At Biktron we include the standard Samebike warranty and we help you handle claims directly with the manufacturer.

Most warranties cover manufacturing defects, not normal wear. That means if the motor stops working for no reason, you are likely protected. If you wore out the brake pads, that is on you.

  • Frame and rigid fork: often covered for 12 to 24 months depending on model.
  • Battery and motor: typically 6 to 12 months for manufacturing faults.
  • Controller, display and wiring: usually 6 months.
  • Consumables like tyres, brake pads, cables and grips are not covered.

Some retailers offer a free six-month check-up. At Biktron we do not charge for warranty inspections. We only ask that you cover return postage if the bike needs to come back to us.

What is not covered by the warranty?

The warranty does not cover crash damage, water damage, misuse or unauthorised modifications. If you fit a non-genuine battery or a higher power controller, the warranty can be void.

It also does not cover bikes used for commercial delivery unless the retailer agrees in writing. Keep your proof of purchase safe, because that is the first thing any claim needs.

How to register and make a warranty claim

You do not usually need to register a Samebike warranty separately. The retailer keeps your order record and the manufacturer asks for that when you claim. Keep the order number and original receipt.

If something fails, contact the shop first. In the UK, your contract is with the seller, not the manufacturer. At Biktron we ask for a short video of the fault, the serial number and a description.

The claim process usually follows these steps:

  • Email our support team with your order number and a clear video or photo.
  • We confirm whether the part is covered and order the replacement from Samebike.
  • Samebike ships the part to our UK warehouse, then we send it to you.
  • If the repair is complex, we may arrange collection or a local repair partner.

How long does a claim take?

Most spare parts arrive within two to three weeks from the source. Some batteries or motors can take longer because of shipping and safety checks. We try to keep you updated at each stage.

If the fault is urgent and the part is cheap, we sometimes send a replacement before the warranty decision. That keeps you riding while the claim is processed.

Try to capture the serial number on the frame and the fault while the bike is switched on. Close-up shots of the display and any error code help speed up the process.

The Samebike warranty is extra protection on top of your statutory rights. Under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, goods must be of satisfactory quality, fit for purpose and as described.

If a fault appears within the first six months, the retailer normally has to prove it was not a manufacturing fault. After six months, you may still have a claim if the product should have lasted longer.

This means you can sometimes get a repair, replacement or refund even if the manufacturer warranty has ended. Always talk to the retailer before assuming you must pay for a repair.

Keep a record of any emails, photos and repair estimates. That evidence makes a consumer law claim much easier to resolve.

Samebike spare parts availability in the UK

You can find Samebike spare parts through Biktron and a few UK specialist e-bike shops. Common items like brake pads, inner tubes and chargers are usually in stock or quick to order.

Less common parts, such as a specific frame hinge or a controller, may need to come from the manufacturer in China. Lead times can be two to six weeks. We stock the fastest-moving spares in our UK warehouse to cut that down.

Some parts are universal, so a local bike shop can fit standard replacements. For example, brake discs, chains and tyres often follow common bicycle sizes. Electrical connectors may be proprietary, so check before you order.

  • Brake pads and discs: usually standard bicycle parts, easy to source.
  • Batteries and chargers: must be genuine Samebike parts to stay safe and keep warranty.
  • Motors and controllers: model-specific, normally ordered from the manufacturer.
  • Folding hinges and locks: available but may have longer lead times.

Batteries are classed as dangerous goods, so they ship by road courier, not air. That is why battery replacements take longer than other parts. Never dispose of an old battery in household waste.

For example, the Samebike CY20 PRO Portable Commuter Electric Bike shares many parts with other folding models, so brake pads and tyres are easy to source. The Samebike SY26-II Mountain Electric Bike uses standard MTB sizing for chains and derailleurs.

Common Samebike wear parts and how long they last

Batteries are the most expensive part to replace. A lithium e-bike battery usually lasts three to five years or 500 to 800 charge cycles depending on how you treat it. Store it at 40 to 80 percent charge in a cool place.

Brake pads wear quickly if you ride in traffic or on hills. You can expect to replace pads every 300 to 800 miles. Hydraulic brakes last longer between bleeds but still need new pads.

Tyres on fat-tire models like the Samebike RS-A02 Pro Fat Tire Off Road Ebike wear faster on tarmac. Keep them inflated to the sidewall pressure to avoid pinch flats.

A worn chain can damage the cassette and the motor gear, so replace it early. If the chain has stretched more than 0.75 percent, it is time for a new one.

How to make parts last longer

Clean the chain and cassette once a month in winter. Check bolt tightness on a folding bike every few rides. Keep the display and throttle dry, and do not pressure wash the motor area.

Charge the battery indoors at room temperature. Avoid leaving it in a hot shed or a freezing garage for long periods.

UK e-bike law, warranty and repairs

A legal Samebike in the UK must meet the EAPC rules. The motor can be no more than 250 watts and assistance must cut off at 15.5 mph. You must be at least 14 years old to ride one.

Modifying the bike to exceed that speed or fit a more powerful motor makes it a moped in law. That voids the warranty and can invalidate your home insurance. The UK government electric bike rules explain this clearly.

The Electrically Assisted Pedal Cycles Regulations 1983 set out the technical definitions. Cycling UK also has a plain English summary.

What if I buy an imported or grey market bike?

Some online sellers ship non-UK-spec bikes. A Samebike from Biktron is sold as road legal, so it meets the 15.5 mph cut off and 250 W limit. Always ask the seller before you buy.

Grey market bikes may not have UK warranty support. If you save a little on an import, you can lose far more on a battery failure.

Buying a used Samebike in the UK

Used e-bikes rarely transfer their warranty. The cover is usually tied to the original buyer and the original order number. Ask the seller for the receipt and any service history.

Check the battery health before you buy. Ask how many charge cycles it has and whether it holds a full charge. A new battery can cost several hundred pounds, so factor that into the price.

Also look for crash damage on the frame, loose hinges and noisy motor bearings. If you need parts, we can still help, but the warranty claim will normally not apply.

If you are after a folding model, see our folding electric bikes range for new bikes with full warranty cover.

How Biktron supports Samebike owners after purchase

We stock genuine Samebike spare parts and offer a UK-based support email. If a part fails under warranty, we chase the manufacturer on your behalf. You do not need to deal with overseas shipping alone.

We also keep service guides for common jobs like adjusting brakes and fitting a new tube. Our team can help you choose the right replacement part even outside warranty.

  • Genuine Samebike batteries and chargers, shipped from our UK warehouse.
  • Warranty claim handling with a named contact, not a chatbot.
  • Advice on compatible universal parts for older models.
  • Workshop referrals for complex electrical repairs.

You can explore the current all bikes range if you need a replacement or an upgrade. For more brand comparisons, see our all guides index.

Final advice: keep your Samebike running longer

Keep the battery between 20 and 80 percent for daily use. Charge it fully only before a long ride. Never leave it fully discharged for weeks, because that kills cells quickly.

Get a basic multi-tool and a puncture kit. Learn to fix a flat and adjust brakes. Many warranty claims turn out to be a loose connector or a low battery, so check those first.

If you ride a folding Samebike, follow the hinge greasing schedule in the manual. A little care prevents the two most common failures we see: worn hinges and corroded contacts.

Frequently asked questions

How long is the Samebike battery warranty in the UK?

Usually 6 to 12 months for manufacturing faults. Normal capacity loss over time is not covered. Keep your proof of purchase to support a claim.

Can I buy a spare battery for an older Samebike model?

Yes, but older models may need a specific connector and voltage. Contact Biktron with your frame serial number so we can match the correct genuine battery.

Does modifying my Samebike to go faster void the warranty?

Yes. Fitting a higher power controller or removing the speed limiter makes the bike non-road legal and voids the warranty. It can also invalidate insurance.

Where can I get Samebike spare parts delivered in the UK?

Biktron stocks common parts like brake pads, tubes and chargers in a UK warehouse. Less common electrical parts are ordered from the manufacturer and usually arrive within two to six weeks.
