Why this matters more on an e-bike than on a bicycle
A puncture on a road bike is an inconvenience. On one of ours it is a different problem, and it is worth saying why.
- Our bikes weigh between 23 and 39 kg, so you are not carrying one anywhere
- The rear wheel has the motor in it, with a cable to the controller, so it does not simply lift out
- A fat tyre is a large volume of air, so a slow leak empties slowly and then completely
- And you may be forty kilometres out, because that is what the range is for
Patching a tube in place, without removing the wheel, is the repair that gets you home. That is what this kit is for.
Stainless levers, and why four of them
A fat tyre on a deep rim is tight. Nylon levers are kind to the rim and flex on a stubborn bead; steel levers do not flex and can nip the tube if you are careless.
Having both is the right answer: start with the nylon pair, and go to the steel pair only if the bead refuses. Four levers also means you can leave two hooked to the spokes holding the bead open while you work with the others, which is how the job is actually done.
How to make a patch that holds
Most roadside patches fail, and they fail for the same three reasons every time.
Find the hole and mark it with the pen. Rough the area with one of the rasps until the shine is gone and the rubber is matt. Spread the fluid thinly over an area larger than the patch, then wait until it stops looking wet, which takes a few minutes and is the step everybody skips. Press the patch on and hold it hard for a minute. Then check the inside of the tyre with your fingers for whatever caused it, because if the thorn is still in there you will be doing this again in two miles.
The valve tools are not filler
The 4-in-1 tool and the four spare valve cores address a fault that is not a puncture at all and gets misdiagnosed as one constantly.
A Schrader valve, the car-style one on most of our bikes, has a removable core that can work loose or fail to seat, and the tyre then goes down slowly over days with no hole anywhere. Tighten it with this tool, or swap the core for a spare. It takes a minute and saves you searching a perfectly good tube for a puncture that does not exist.
Who it is for, and what to keep with it
Anyone who rides beyond walking distance of home. It is the cheapest insurance in this shop, and it does not expire.
Keep it with a pump and a multi-tool in the same bag, and the three of them handle nearly everything that stops a ride: our 16-in-1 Bike Tool Kit for the bolts and the bead, either of our inflators for the air. Then check the pressure once a week, because a properly inflated tyre gets fewer punctures and gives more range, and both of those are free.

- How long does delivery take?
- Standard UK delivery usually takes 2 to 7 business days. Remote areas may take a little longer. You will receive a tracking link by email once your order is dispatched.
- Which payment methods do you accept?
- We accept Visa, Mastercard, PayPal, Apple Pay, Google Pay, and Klarna buy-now-pay-later. All payments are processed securely.
- Can I return my electric bike?
- Yes. You can ride the bike and still return it. Tell us within 30 days of delivery and we book the courier and collect it from your door. Contact us first and we will guide you through the process.
- Do the bikes need assembly?
- Most electric bikes arrive 85 to 90 per cent pre-assembled. You will usually need to attach the handlebars, pedals, and adjust the seat. A basic tool set is often included.
- Are BikTron electric bikes legal to ride in the UK?
- Yes. All bikes sold by BikTron that meet UK EAPC rules (250W motor, max 15.5 mph assisted speed, pedal-assisted only) are fully road-legal. You do not need a licence, tax, or insurance to ride them on public roads. Riders must be at least 14 years old.
- What about the electric scooters?
- Those are different, and the law treats them differently. A privately owned e-scooter cannot legally be ridden on a public road, pavement or cycle lane in the UK, whoever sold it. We sell ours for private land use only, with the landowner's permission, and every scooter product page says so. If you want something you can ride to work, choose an electric bike.
